Solar Panels

Which type of solar panels will be best for your home? It depends on where you live and what budget you’re working towards. First, let’s take a look at the types of panels available. Solar panels are made from two main types of Silicon cells:

1. Monocrystalline “Single Crystal”

2. Polycrystalline “Multi Crystal”

Imagine a source of pure, powerful, clean & never-ending energy that you can claim for yourself.

When we put it that way, the sun becomes a consumer’s best friend! But many people aren’t sure how solar energy works. It’s actually very simple …

Monocrystalline

  • Black Silicon Panel with Nice Aesthetics
  • Generates more Electricity per Panel
  • Lower Temperature Co-efficiency
  • Performs better in Hotter Conditions
  • Produces Higher Efficiency Cells
  • Reliable Longevity Performance of Panels
  • Accelerated Performance in Low Light Level

Polycrystalline

  • New Darker Blue Solar Cells
  • Ideal for Commercial Roof Space Projects
  • Manufacturing Cost are up to 20% Less
  • Majority P.V Solar Installed in Global Market
  • High-Quality Control
  • Top Solar Panels are Polycrystalline

What’s the difference between Monocrystalline & Polycrystalline solar panels?

Monocrystalline solar cells are manufactured from a single form of high-quality silicon crystal. These cells are typically 10-15% more efficient than their cousins, Polycrystalline cells. Monocrystalline have been the panel selector’s choice in Australia as they are among the oldest technology, most efficient, higher powered, most reliable solar panels to produce more electricity from the sun. You can recognise a Monocrystalline solar panel by its purer dark black silicon cells as opposed to the impure bluer colour silicon cells of a Polycrystalline panel.

Polycrystalline solar panels are manufactured from a blended source of silicon crystal. The manufacturing process cost up to 20% less than Mono’s, which makes the Poly’s a popular choice as they are a becoming more affordable. Polycrystalline solar panels are recognised by their bluish colour and visible grain like ‘metal flaking mosaic effect’ seen throughout the panel. The reason for this is due to the lower grade silicon used to manufacture these panels. As a rule of thumb, Polycrystalline solar panels have a slightly lower cell efficiency than Monocrystalline panels.

Here’s what our clients have to say

  • "So happy we chose Sky Building to install our solar."

"We had quotes from 3 other businesses prior to receiving a call from Sky Building & I can not recommend them enough. From their first initial call to the sales rep to installation, nothing was a problem & everything was explained in laymen terms. Great job to all the staff with Sky Building, thank you.

    Kim Bray

  • "I was extremely impressed by the prompt service I received"

My other contract was for painting and restoration of my roof. it looks great. Jacob and Gerard did a great job in preparing the surfaces thoroughly so I envision I will get a long life from my paint job. I am grateful to them for their mindfulness also on the cleaned up after the job. Thank you Jacob and Gerard."

    Julie Hynard

  • "Sky Building have done right by us"

"Let’s face it, the decision to go solar is becoming crucial with the cost of power skyrocketing. But it opens up a whole can of worms in the choices out there. If you are not an expert yourself then it pays to be advised by one and there are many claiming to be such. We are pensioners and cannot afford to be scammed. So it was a relief to find the genuine article!

    Marie Bell & Mick Kelly

  • We can not recommend Sky Building enough

"We have just had solar panels installed and from our first phone call through to our installer we can not recommend Sky Building enough. Thank you so much for a pleasant experience."

    Marcia Kemp

  • "Sky Building have done right by us"

We felt confident in the choice we made and the work was duly done as negotiated. I’d have to say Sky Building deliver on their promise and that is good quality and service from concept to delivery. Thanks so much, guys, looking forward to air conditioning this Summer without the crippling bills! Go Solar!

  • So different from other companies I have dealt with.

"The [solar] panels were installed no problem and they pump out power even on the dullest days. I left everything in their hands and this meant I had no phoning around everything was done for me. I cannot recommend them more highly."

Choosing between Monocrystalline & Polycrystalline?

There are key differences to consider when choosing the right solar panel for your household. Both panels have their benefits and will perform differently according to your geographical location and rooftop space. If you live in a hot area or have limited roof space then it’s a good choice to go with the Monocrystalline, and if you have a large roof space with a budget in mind, the Polycrystalline will be your selection.

Either way, the key point to remember is that both solar panel types will help you save on you electricity bill.
